How to Replace a Toyota Truck Bumper

How to Replace a Toyota Truck Bumper

If the bumper of your Toyota truck is damaged and you need to swap it out, it can be done in about an hour with simple hand tools. In this case, the vehicle is a 1994 Toyota pickup, but the process is the same for many other Toyota trucks as well.

Difficulty:
Easy

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set
  • Blanket
  • Replacement bumper
    • 1

Crawl underneath the front of the truck and locate the bumper brackets. These two brackets come off of the upper part of the bumper and connect to the frame horns.

    • 2

Unbolt the bumper from the frame horns using the 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets. There are four bolts total; once they're all off, the bumper can be removed from the vehicle.

    • 3

Lay the replacement bumper onto the blanket, face down. You want to protect the face of the bumper so you don't scratch it.

    • 4

Unbolt the bumper brackets from the stock bumper using the 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets. Bolt them into the replacement bumper using the factory hardware.

    • 5

Slide the bumper onto the frame horns and loosely bolt it in place using the 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets.

    • 6

Step back and look at the bumper. If you need to adjust it forwards or backwards, then do so with light pushes or pulls and then tighten the bolts using the 3/8-inch ratchet.
