How to Remove a Toyota Pulley

Toyota uses many different engines in the various model that they offer. About the only thing that is going to be the same through out this process is the removal. On some Toyota models, you will need to remove the passenger side front wheel to access the engine pulleys. On other models, you can reach them through the front of the engine. Each engine pulley has a different purpose and will need a different engine pulley remover.

  • Pliers
  • Engine pulley remover
  • Power drill

      Park the Toyota on level ground with plenty of light. Open the hood, and allow the engine to cool before proceeding.

      Connect the pliers to the tension pulley, and pull back on it to release the drive belt. Pull the drive belt from the engine compartment..

      Connect the engine pulley remover to the power drill. The pulley remover connects the same way as a drill bit

    • 4

      Place the pulley remover onto the nut in the center of the pulley. Set the drill to reverse, and pull the trigger until the pulley comes off the engine.
